Hello everybody,
Today I received the news that I have to create and maintain a weblog about information technology.
I have to admit that I'm not really knowledgeable about information technology but "thank goodness" we have a whole course dedicated to it.
It's called: Media Use in Organizations.
As I'm introducing the weblog anyway, I'll introduce myself too.
I'm a second-year student of Communication and Information Sciences. The study is given at the Tilburg University in the Netherlands.
I'm eighteen years old, almost always younger that my fellow students, but I don't really care.
I love music, it's my passion, but I also like sporting, reading, going out with friends, visiting concerts and I love to cook (and eat it afterwards ^^)
Okay, back to information technology. As I said, I'm not quite into software, programs, the internet, hardware, social networks and all sorts.
In fact, I do have a 'hyves' account (social network site) and I regularly post on my personal weblog/journal (which is not about information technology, but is all about me-me-me ^^). I like to customize the style of the journal and put new skins on it. I also do know how to create and edit a forum.
However, I haven't got the slightest idea how to build a website or use Photoshop and I have no idea what HTML and CSS is, or what Twitter is about. Honestly, I'd like to know about some of these things, but generally, I don't know a thing about what I don't care about.
This brings me into trouble, because of the study I chose. It requires that I do know about computer stuff. After all, the subject I chose was Corporate Communication and Digital Media. My prospective employers expect me to have knowledge about all kinds of new media, about social networks... About how people communicate with each other and how a company can make advantage of it. Therefore I'll try to discover the working of as many computer/media/software/programs as possible.
The next few weeks I will post blogs on this weblog about information technological issues I face, things I notice, companies that communicate very well with their customers or websites that function very badly.
If you like, please comment, give me feedback, tell me that I my way of writing interests you or absolutely bored you (in that case you probably already quit reading, but anyway), or if you like to help me with computer stuff, be my guest.
Tessa

Hi Tessa, I like your introductory post and also hope that you will become more interested in the things you listed above...maybe by maintaining this blog :) Good luck, Marie N.
